Single Koi Fish Necklace
This fish necklace features a fish that actually moves like a real fish! This
Cloisonné* fish is as realistic as it is beautiful. This fish is shown in gold, but you can chose your favorite fish color, as they come in multiple hues and are handcrafted especially for you.
Perhaps the best aspect of this necklace is the meaning behind it. The Koi Fish in Japanese culture represents
non-conformity. The Koi swims upstream, which can be interpreted as showing the philosophy of non-conformism because of the fact that the Koi does not "go with the flow." This can represent a person who is very independent and does not do things the way they are expected of him or her. Swimming upstream can mean that a person is not easily influenced by others and does what he or she wants.
The Koi also represents
strength in times of adversity, as well as
persistence and
the
willingness to go on even though you are being swept away. It also symbolizes
surpassing expectations. The Koi fish swimming up a river can demonstrate that a person has overcome various obstacles and not only keeps standing, but has come out
victorious.

*Cloisonné is an ancient metalworking technique. It is a multi-step enamel process used to produce jewelry, vases, and other decorative items. (The resulting objects can also be called cloisonné.)
Cloisonné was first developed in the Near East. It spread to the Byzantine Empire and from there along the Silk Road to China. Chinese cloisonné is arguably the most well known of all the varieties of cloisonne and enamel making.
